The Mask of Freya by Karl Larew

Set in the French Revolution of 1848, "The Mask of Freya" is about a small, secret sect of pagan nature worshipers, devotees of the Cat-Goddess Freya.  They must fight for religious freedom against government and religious establishment persecution.  Their struggle is complicated by the chaos of the Revolution, a case of double murder, and attacks by the minions of Satan and the Fire God, Loki.  Fortunately, some of the pagans can magically turn into animals, the better to carry on their quest for freedom and safety.
